Matt Bodey’s Bath Gladiators Rugby League side will face Devon Sharks Rugby League at Farmborough Recreation Ground this afternoon (14:30pm).
Current Covid restrictions mean that the game will be played without spectators in what is the first playing action for either team in over a year due to the Covid pandemic, but head coach Matt Bodey is confident that his side will be ready for both the Devon and the season ahead.”The fixture is a really good opportunity for a number of guys to stake a claim for the season ahead – with a few new faces in the squad, combined with a number of injuries across the board, it’s lining up as a key fixture against a strong Sharks team ahead of next weeks season start.”
Todays’ match will be the first time that the teams have played one another and Devon Sharks, currently preparing for their first season in the Southern Conference league, are also looking forward to the fixture. Phil Johnson – GM of Devon Sharks commented “It’s been a while since we have seen some grassroots rugby league and we cannot wait for the game to kick off against Bath.”
“Bath have done some incredible work during preseason and it certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
“We expect Bath to give us no easy ride this afternoon and the game is set to be a tough encounter which will allow us to get a sense of where we are in terms of strengths and weaknesses”
